NAAREAOFFERS ENERGY THAT IS:
• CARBON-FREE
Replacing fossil fuels through the development of a fourth-generation nuclear reactor.
• CLEAN
Long-lived radioactive waste (plutonium) used as fuel (cleaning up the planet), with no waste and no need for water.
• SAFE
Non-intermittent production of heat or electricity.
• ABUNDANT
Available to all.
• AUTONOMOUS
Nuclear microreactors that can be operated independently from electrical grids, which are expected to approach capacity by 2030
• AFFORDABLE
Lowest price per kilowatt on the market.
• LOCAL
Small reactors (about the size of a bus) that can be installed near any consumer (business of all sizes, remote areas) in any part of the world.
THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC AND CLIMATE CHALLENGE
The world today is facing a scissors effect: - On one hand, demand for energy is increasing, due to the growing world population (10 billion people by 2030, aspiring to a decent standard of living), with demand for electricity expected to quadruple over the same period. - On the other, non-renewable fossil fuels are being depleted, which currently still provide 80% of the world’s electricity, and cause major harmful effects (CO2, climate disruption, loss of biodiversity, etc.). NAAREA’s ambition and work are guided by two aims: - Contribute to qualitative growth through abundant energy while adhering to an approach of energy restraint. - Help protect the health of the environment by eliminating long-lived radioactive waste. NAAREA is responding to the major challenge of the 21st century by offering a solution to the energy trilemma defined by the World Energy Council: - providing abundant, affordable energy to achieve equity; - ensuring national energy security for greater resilience and sovereignty; - guaranteeing environmental sustainability through decarbonization.
OUR TIMELINE
NAAREA will develop, design, build, install, operate and maintain its microreactors, and ensure their recycling, reprocessing and destruction.
NAAREA has defined an ambitious development plan organized into three phases, conducted in parallel: finalization of a digital twin in 2023, submitting the safety options dossier (DOS) for commissioning of a prototype by 2028, and launching mass production by 2030.
phase 118 MONTHS
The 18-month pre-design phase includes the development of a complete digital twin, which will notably serve to validate the main choices, functionalities and sizing, coordinate the interfaces between the various sub-systems and the integration of the overall system, and provide a tool for use by safety and security authorities.
phase 224 MONTHS
Over a period of 24 months, this phase includes laboratory testing and the production of physical prototypes, followed by 12 months of observation and feedback on their functioning.
phase 336 MONTHS
Over a period of 36 months, this phase will see the development of the first industrial series and the definition of all manufacturing parameters, followed by 12 months of trial operation for final testing and feedback.

OUR PURPOSE
IMPACTS ON THE 17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS NAAREA’s company purpose is to meet the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in Paris in 2015. They form our frame of reference for our economic, social and environmental impact, and our microreactors will be deployed to support this ambition.
DISSOCIATING ECONOMIC ACTIVITY AND POLLUTION
By resolving the energy trilemma, NAAREA seeks to remove the correlation between the benefits of economic and human development and the harms of environmental degradation. At the heart of this aim lies the framework formed by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which bring together economic growth and protection of the planet. Developed to promote peace and prosperity, they cover all of the social, economic and environmental aspects of our societies. Through rapid development and deployment of its solution, NAAREA will be able to replace activities emitting high levels of greenhouse gases, such as industrial activities, electricity production in remote areas, heavy and light mobility, agriculture and heat networks.
SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEAST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES
NAAREA aspires to bring carbon-free, accessible and safe energy to everyone, including to communities in the least developed countries currently without access to a power grid. These regions are the first to suffer from climate disruption, even though they are not causing the problem. NAAREA’s solution will help correct this injustice by providing these countries with the power to fuel their development.
OUR LOGO: THE RADISH
Radishes are indicators of the state of the soil in which they grow. The radish is a root vegetable that leaves no waste, as the entire plant is edible. A crop that’s good to eat is a sign of a healthy soil.
